A comfortable patient is a happy patient

Kent dentists are starting to build a reputation for their first class facilities. Dentists have not only been investing in the most advanced dental instruments to provide a good dental service, they have also started to concentrate on the interior design of their clinics. By improving interiors the dentists want to reinforce that dental visits do not have to be an unpleasant experience. It is hoped that comfortable furniture and modern decor will help patients relax whilst in the clinic.

The comfort of patients is an important factor in the success of a dental practice. If a patient has felt uncomfortable at some point whilst being at the practice it could put them off returning for future treatments and the dentist will have lost some business. Practitioners are aware that when a patient initially enters the clinic they may feel anxious about the treatments they are about to have, this is usually the case for those having dental jobs such as root canal. It is precisely these patients that the new interiors are being designed for.

It is essential that a sense of space is created in the waiting room; we all know how waiting can bring about worrying. If a room is small this will only antagonise the anxiety a patient is feeling and in extreme cases bring on claustrophobia or panic attacks.

Since many children visit dental practices it also seems sensible that the interior is also child friendly. Unfortunately many practices merely have a box of toys placed in the waiting room to keep them occupied and distracted. Practitioners need to keep in mind that when the children walk through the treatment room door and see lots of unfamiliar mechanical objects it can be quite daunting. Therefore it would be useful to perhaps add a little colour, child friendly posters to even the treatment room to distract children in order to help them relax. The experience is likely to be much less unpleasant for the child if the interior appears welcoming and a little fun.

Smile makeover is for anyone who does not feel happy or confident about one or more aspects of their smile, and wants to do something about it. A survey recently showed that up to 75% of persons dislike their smile enough to feel uncomfortable being photographed, so there are plenty of people out there who could benefit from the treatment.

What does a Smile Makeover Involve?

A smile makeover can improve the shape, colour and alignment of your teeth, and can also address problems with your gums and lips at the dentist. Depending on how much work you want done, it will involve one or more procedures from a wide choice of cosmetic treatments. This can be anything from just whitening your teeth to completely changing their shape and colour, straightening them and having Botox in your lips while you’re at it! The whole point is to have as much or as little work done to make you feel confident and leave you with a smile you can be proud of.

What Treatments can a Smile Makeover Offer You?

Most dentists in essex will be able to offer you the following treatments:

  • Orthodontic treatment such as traditional braces or Invisalign braces will straighten your teeth and close up gaps.
  • Porcelain veneers are wafer thin laminates which cover the tooth. They can improve the whiteness of your teeth, make them appear straighter, and are used to repair chipped or broken teeth.
  • Dental implants, bridges or dentures are used to replace missing teeth.
  • Surgical or laser gum contouring is a procedure designed to reshape the gums and reduce the effects of a gummy smile.
  • Teeth whitening is used to improve and lighten the natural colour of your teeth.
  • Botox can be used to reduce the appearance of lines or wrinkles around the mouth.
